S. Jakarta Developing 5 Potential of Betawi Culture

Betawi culture preservation is an absolutely thing to be done in order to ease the nex generation remember it. Moreover, local culture should be dig deeply. By doing so, the development and preservation of the cultural in Jakarta will directly be mixed with local knowledge.

Currently we are trying to develop the five sub-districts that have characteristic of Betawi culture

There are still many local people who preserve Betawi culture, especially in South Jakarta. Yet, its existence is neglected due to lack of good publicity.

"Currently we are trying to develop the five sub-districts that have characteristic of Betawi culture," said Head of South Jakarta Culture Sub-Department, A Syahropi, Friday (4/11).

All Kota Tua Infrastructures will Be Revitalized

Syahropi added that those five regions are Kemang area with palang pintu (Door-bolting Festival), Cipedak with traditional music gambang kromong, Cipulir and Ulujami with Beksi martial arts, Asem Baris Tebet with a variety of culinary tourism, and Tegal Parang with kerak telor (Betawi egg crust).
